Privacy Policy

Effective: October 2026. This policy describes how IPmap.info ("the service", operated by the operator of IPmap.info) handles information. For any privacy request, contact [email protected].

What this service does

IPmap.info is a public IP address lookup tool. It shows your own public IP address and lets you look up the geolocation of any IP address or domain name. No registration is required and no accounts exist.

Data we process

  • Your IP address — necessary to deliver the service (the homepage shows it to you) and for security: requests are rate-limited per client IP and abuse protection checks the referring page and a per-build token. IP addresses also appear in standard web server access logs kept on our server for security and abuse prevention, and are rotated after a limited period.
  • Addresses you look up — the IP or domain you enter is resolved and rendered. The last 10 lookups are kept in server memory only (never written to disk, not linked to any identity) and are lost on restart.
  • Public search-engine submission — lookup pages have public URLs (/ip/<address>.html). Newly created pages are submitted to search engines via the IndexNow protocol. If you look up an IP address or domain, that page URL may consequently appear in public search engines. This is inherent to the public nature of the service.
  • Reverse DNS — hostname rows are produced by DNS pointer lookups on the queried address.

Geolocation data

Geolocation is computed on our own server from the free DB-IP city database, which we download and keep in memory. Your IP address or lookups are not sent to DB-IP or any geolocation provider.

Cookies and third parties

We set no cookies ourselves. Your light/dark theme preference is stored in your browser's localStorage. The following third-party services are loaded by the pages and may set their own cookies or identifiers under their own policies:

What we do not do

  • We do not sell or rent personal data.
  • We do not build user profiles or track you across sites ourselves.
  • We do not require or store logins, emails, or payment data.

Your rights

If you are in the EEA, UK, or a jurisdiction with comparable law, you may request access to, correction of, or erasure of personal data relating to you. As the service keeps no user profiles and stores lookups only transiently in memory, the data we can act on is generally limited to what appears in server access logs; contact [email protected] and we will respond within the statutory period.

Children

The service is not directed at children under 16 and we do not knowingly collect their data.

Changes

Changes to this policy are posted on this page with an updated effective date.
