Terms of Use

Effective: October 2026.

The service

IPmap.info provides free IP address lookup, geolocation, reverse DNS and WHOIS information. The service is offered "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, and may be changed, limited or discontinued at any time without notice.

Accuracy — please read this

IP geolocation is approximate by nature. An address is generally placed at the city or region level of the network that owns it, not at the location of a person or device. VPNs, mobile carriers, corporate proxies and anycast networks regularly appear somewhere other than the device using them. Reverse DNS and WHOIS records are reported as published by their registries and may be out of date.

Do not use this service for legal, law-enforcement, journalistic, safety or identification decisions. Treat the output as a hint about a network, never as evidence about a person.

Acceptable use

  • No automated bulk lookups: requests are rate-limited and heavy scraping will be blocked.
  • Do not use the service to harass, stalk, threaten or attempt to identify an individual.
  • Do not attempt to disrupt, overload or probe the service or its infrastructure.

Data sources and attribution

  • Geolocation — the free DB-IP city database: "IP Geolocation by DB-IP". Our servers compute location locally; the address you look up is not sent to DB-IP.
  • WHOIS — public domain and IP registry records (RDAP/WHOIS).
  • Reverse DNS — pointer (PTR) records resolved from the DNS.
  • Map tiles — © OpenStreetMap contributors.

Advertising

Pages may display advertising served by our partner Mediavine (Journey), which also manages the consent banner for advertising choices. Advertising does not influence the lookup results shown on a page.

Limitation of liability

To the extent permitted by law, the operator of IPmap.info is not liable for any loss or damage arising from use of the service or from reliance on its output.
